When Is an Adjustable-Rate Mortgage a Good Choice for Home Financing?

Broken down to basics, all mortgages fall into two categories; fixed interest rate and adjustable interest rate(ARM). Each has its pros and cons, benefits depend on the buyer. While many people are currently opting for fixed-rate mortgages, ARM’s can be extremely beneficial for many homebuyers.

  • Lower Starting Costs

  • Lower Starting rate than fixed mortgages

  • Often easier to qualify since rates and initial payments are lower. If rates rise, so can your ARM interest rate at set intervals.

  • All ARMs have caps that prevent the rate from going over a certain amount

  • Some programs start out with a fixed-rate period (3year, 5year, 7year)

  • Interest-only ARMs are also available, perfect choice for borrowers who plan to spend a short period of time in the home

If you’re looking for smaller monthly payments and lower qualifying requirements or you plan to be in your home for a short period of time and ARM may be just what you’re looking for!

Question and Answer…

I want to make my home more festive for the holidays. Any tips?

The holidays are an exciting and busy time of year. Whether you are decking the halls, lighting the Kinara or frying latkes, keep these safety tips in mind to have a happy and safe holiday season.

Use non-flammable candle holders, kinaras and menorahs on sturdy surfaces. Keep candles out of reach of children and pets and never leave candles unattended.

Keep live trees well-watered; dry trees can be a fire hazard.

Secure your tree with a durable stand in a location away from heat sources, doorways or high traffic areas where it could easily be tipped over. The lights and ornaments on a tree are enticing; make sure kids and pets know not to play around the tree.

Check your lights before using them to be sure all the bulbs work and there are no frayed wires, or loose connections.

Handle spun glass and artificial snow with care, following package instructions to avoid skin and eye irritations.

Be careful with ornaments and tinsel made before 1972 as well as ornaments from other countries. These decorations may contain lead.

Some holiday plants are toxic. Keep the following out of reach of curious pets and children: mistletoe, holly berries, Jerusalem cherry, amaryllis, and poinsettias.

Happy Holidays from Fajardo Home Sales!!!
